Saturday night at the races
Hundreds of people filled the stands for the General Tire Clash at the Mag last weekend, Magnolia Motor Speedway’s biggest event of the year. People came from all over the country for three days of racing. It was a large gathering celebrating life and racing amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Magnolia Motor Speedway posted on its website that masks were encouraged but not required, and most people opted not to wear them. But even when the stands aren’t filled to the brim, when it’s not the biggest night of the year, many regulars gather to spend Saturday nights at The Mag. On any event night, families cluster around the track. Some lean on fences, others set up lawn chairs in the stands, others sit atop their RVs or trucks. One thing is for sure: going to the racetrack on Saturday is a whole family affair.
